XFileV5 With 3D virtual product development now the norm and design software becoming more capable, so the exchange of design data is becoming more complicated.  Large assembly files may contain links to parts, assemblies and catalogue components which in turn may be linked to drawings or other files not directly referred to by the assembly structure.  Ensuring you send suppliers or customers exactly the information you intend can be a time consuming and frustrating activity. XFileV5 is a powerful utility that runs within CATIA V5.  Particularly useful when differing data managements environments are involved (e.g. PDM to file-based), it acts as an import/export assistant, building a package of files to send to a supplier and re-building and validating that package on receipt. Key functions include the ability to include or exclude linked files on export as required and the harmonization of links to ensure data can be safely reconstructed on import. An easy to use interactive mode guides the user through the export and import process.  Alternatively the batch mode can be used either stand alone or integrated within an automated data exchange process.
