Business Issues facing the AEC industry

Communication and Collaboration

Within an AEC project the communication links can be immense and the information flow complex. A civil engineer might communicate with an architect, planning supervisor, quantity surveyor, contractors.

Add to this services such as gas, water, environmental and even post build facility maintenance, and the whole data management and communication network becomes enormous.

Controlling these communication channels is vital along with managing the flow of information and re-using the data in subsequent projects.

Just 36 years old, Thomas Heatherwick has already established himself as one of the most exciting and innovative figures in British design. He is perhaps most famous for his sculpture, The B Of The Bang, in Manchester. Heatherwick Studio is pushing the boundaries of architecture, sculpture and product design by combining all three with innovative free thinking and not letting existing construction techniques curb ambition.
