A400 Lifting and Handling

Objectives

  • Design and manufacture of lifting and handling systems for major composite wing assemblies.

Project Scope

  • Application of Automated Intelligent Design (AID) to deliver robust, accurate tooling designs in a reduced lead-time and at competitive cost
  • Design of a generic set of lifting beams to cater for varying component detail and assembly conditions
  • Beams incorporating a power driven mechanism to move an internal balance mass catering for CoG differences
  • Configurable turntables to facilitate the handling of left hand and right hand components
  • Completed designs conforming to customer standards and health and safety guidelines
