Real Time Rendering (RT1) Enables designers to leverage technological material specifications to produce realistic renderings of their model. Texture can be created from scratch, modified from imported digital images, or selected from the included library. Associativity is maintained between the material library and the material applied to the parts. Materials can be applied through a specification-driven approach or through simple selection. Real-time display computations quickly convert models to realistic renderings.

Realistic Renderings... Designers can achieve a real-life rendering of their entire design with the Real Time Rendering 1 (RT1) product. The system applies technological and rendering specifications to parts to produce a realistic visualization.

Rendering Specifications... Designers can interactively create material texture definitions with controlled parameters such as color, luminance, transparency and reflectivity. To simplify the creation process, designers can begin with any digital image, change the stretch values and mapping options to planar, cylindrical or spherical projection. User-defined specification families help designers in organizing these materials.

Technological Specifications... In addition to the texture rendering, users can also define technological specifications such as, material density, Young modulus and Poisson ratio. Real Time Rendering 1 comes with a library of predefined, rendering and technological specifications to make the application of textures effortless.

Material Specifications... Material specifications can be shared between applications across the whole product development process to ensure consistency and early-stage integration. CATIA V5 applications such as analysis, drafting and knowledgeware share the specifications defined with Real Time Rendering 1.

The management of materials specifications is done through a timesaving and intuitive tree editor offering ease of understanding and flexibility. Search capabilities give users the ability to find and replace specific materials within a large assembly. The Multi-selection function enables to apply one material on several parts at the same time.

Application Options... Designers can easily apply texture definitions using standard Windows drag-and-drop, cut-and-paste methods. Designers also have the option of using a specification-driven approach, which works with the design specifications rather than with the geometry, to apply the texture mapping. Direct editing of part feature properties provides full control of materials' basic appearance and texture characteristics.

Real-Time Display... When switching from a standard wire frame or shaded display option to the rendered visualization option, the system dynamically computes and displays a real-time rendering of the textured parts.
