In 1914 Spyker merged with the Dutch Aircraft Factory N.V. From that moment on the Spyker logo consisted of an aircraft propeller and a wire wheel with the saying “Nulla tenaci invia est via” – “for the tenacious no road is impassable” – this has held true for Spyker ever since.

The racing and aviation heritage of the early cars has been carried over to the contemporary Spykers, their design being heavily influenced by aeroplanes and aerodynamics. The cars are hand-crafted in the same tradition as the earlier Spykers by craftsmen using bespoke materials and are built for the most passionate drivers who do not just buy a car but have one built for them, to their exacting specifications.

Spykers are the ultimate statement of individuality, a creation of timeless beauty in the form of a state of the art technology package with spectacular performance. Every Spyker is as much an individual as its buyer. Identified by its chassis number and given its personality by the individual specifications of its owner which are perpetuated on the car’s build sheet. Every owner may follow the assembly process of his or her Spyker day and night by means of a dedicated web cam-system - The Spycam™ - in the factory, an absolute first in the motorcar industry.

Intrinsys are proud to have been chosen by Spyker Automobielen BV to support the company with their current PLM deployment. At the start of the year, the first stage of the PLM process began with the implementation of CATIA V5. Having previously used Siemens NX, Spyker engineers were first trained in the application of the new software with bespoke automotive training, developed by Intrinsys sister company, Integral Powertrain. All training was carried out at the customer site and was followed up with mentoring and help desk support.

The customer has now quickly built up its skills in CATIA and the next stage in the PLM road map is to implement SmarTeam, Dassault Systemes PDM offering. Intrinsys also hope to be involved with Spyker, providing powertrain engineering support on new vehicle programmes.
