Large Assembly Concurrent Design
Intrinsys use CATIA and SmarTeam knowledge to help Dassault Systemes to develop
Large Assembly Concurrent Design - BPC
Intrinsys are pioneering the Large Assembly Concurrent Design (LACD) BPC (Business Process Content). Intrinsys have been working closely with Dassault Systemes in France for the last year to create a best-practice methodology that will allow companies to obtain real benefit from this combination of CATIA and SmarTeam.
The goal of the Large Assembly & Concurrent Design BPC is two fold:
1. To help the designers to manage their large assemblies by
a. Supporting CATIA product creation of large assemblies.
b. Facilitating ease of navigation in large assemblies.
c. Optimizing memory usage.
2. To improve the designers collaboration by
a. Supporting concurrent 3D Design through CATIA V5 and SMARTEAM.
b. Helping several designers to work at the same time on the same assembly or on different assemblies containing the same linked parts.
c. Managing versioning of multiple components.

With LACD, users can rapidly create WIP assemblies while developing a new company product. They can add reference data to define the way their model interfaces with the rest of the product. They are kept informed about the progress of the design within the context of the rest of the product and can rapidly incorporate updated reference data into their model. They even have the ability to decide if this data is full geometry or light weight representations to speed up the design process.
